The Illinois Principals Association is proud to offer you the IPA's Model Student Handbook Service (MSH)! With school's now facing a great deal of litigation focused on student handbooks as well as the rising cost of attorney fees, the MSH is a cost effective way to keep your student handbook legal – and avoid an expensive lawsuit down the road. The MSH, not a handbook per se, will provide you with quick, user-friendly access to model student handbook procedures that are attorney drafted and fully aligned with PRESS, the Illinois Association of School Board's school district policy service as well as state, federal and case law that change on a frequent basis.

The MSH is not meant to replace your school’s handbook. It is a tool to assist in making sure that your school’s handbook is up-to-date and legally compliant. The MSH can be best used as follows:

• To search for new handbook procedures that your school needs.
• To compare your existing handbook procedures with model handbook procedures.
• To update your handbook for the next school year.
• To make sure your handbook has all procedures required by law that change often.

IPA members may access the service for an individual annual subscription rate of $100 annually. ($200 for nonmembers)  School districts can save on the subscription rate when more than one of their schools subscribe.  District rates are:

For districts with 1 to 3 buildings       - $100 per building
For districts with 4 or 5 buildings       - $350 per district
For districts with 6+ buildings            - $550 per district
